What is very
little known about the region, is the
unprecedented importance it has gained as home
of the famous Blues music.
The Blues, which eventually spread all over the
world, and became one of the most popular music
forms of all times, actually originated here, in
the so called Schmuckwille district, in the
northern part of the Norrtälje River
delta.
Now finally, historians have followed the tracks
back to the originator, John "Flashfinger"
Nelson, the original blues man, the
astonishing performer who has aged with so much
grace and such unbroken musical ability, and who
has seen a renaissance due to the increased
interest in original folk music and the
constantly rising prices on beer.

Rough and rugged
were the folks and times in his young days, and
his music clearly reflects the severe hardships
he had to live through in his youth.
Those were the days of picking the archipelago
cotton, working in the stormy fields all day and
the maidens´ dormitory all night.
The steamwheelers passed on the dirty, slowly
winding Norrtälje River, Massapissi as the
locals called it, bringing news from other times
and other states. The plantation owners showed
no mercy, and the only comfort was the local
milk of amnesia,The Forest Star. Feeling the
southern breeze caressing his forehead, he could
express his griefs and sorrows only in the
blues...
